We are growing and looking for experienced Medical Assistants (MAs) with initiative & conscientious work ethics to join our busy specialty Dermatology practice.

Primary duties include facilitating a positive patient office experience, assisting with various procedures, surgeries and visit documentation, completing lab and pathology requisitions, triaging, and returning phone calls, scheduling patients, escorting patients to exam rooms, cleaning/stocking rooms and other related tasks.

MAs are assigned to work with and assist the dermatology providers and based on the individual provider schedule and provider needs.

Working hours are 7:30a-5:30p, 4 days per week.

Requirements: 

High school diploma or GED and Medical Assisting Certificate from an accredited school required. Medical assisting experience is required. Dermatology experience & certification preferred. Scribe experience is preferred.

This position reports to the General Dermatology Supervisors. Overtime and scheduling flexibility may be required to accommodate operational needs.

Summary:

The Medical Assistant is essential during the patient visit, accompanying the dermatologist in the room and promoting a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists.

Essential Functions:

  • Rooming patients and documents all vital information

  • Scribing information for the dermatologist

  • Providing post op wound care to patients

  • Suture removal

  • Cleaning, set up and stocking the exam rooms

  • Scheduling patient appointments

  • Preparation of charts for the next day

  • Prior Authorization


Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:

  • Surgical photographs

  • Biopsies – punch, DIF and shave

  • Excisions

  • Surgical assist

  • Electrodessication and curettage

  • I&D

  • Phototherapy

  • Injections

  • Patch testing

  • Blue light

 

Education:

Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Summit certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).


Post High School education in a medical support field:

  • Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 1-2 years of recent experience in a medical office as a medical assistant

  • Must possess great people, interpersonal, organizational and communications skills

  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and, ModMed EMR (EMA)

  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team

  • Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
